WWE Cut Backs

The WWE cut a ton of talent over the past 2-weeks as has become a yearly tradition of sorts where they get rid of lower card talent to make slots available for new talent to come in. There is an old saying in professional sports that every year you should change 10-15% of your team because it avoids complacency and keeps a team sharp and you can you look at that doctrine as one that can extend to professional wrestling.

With that said, I thought I would take some time to look at the talent that has been let go and make some observations on where I see the following talent landing.

BIG DADDY V

Nelson Frazier will always have the freak show size quality going for him, but he's leaving the company that coveted that size the most. I am sure he will have no problem finding work overseas - potentially with the HUSTLE promotion that could put together some "unique" matches between V and the likes of Bob Sapp, Razor Ramon HG and many others.

SHANNON MOORE

Moore is good friends with Jeff Jarrett and instantly leaves that door open ajar for a potential return though he didn't leave on the best of terms with the company when they pushed him without a contract and used his girlfriend (who worked for WWE at the time) as a conduit to get him signed by the WWE for a higher price. Moore is not someone to break the bank trying to sign but if Jarrett pushes for him, than he'll be in (and likely put A.J Styles over on his first night in).

COLIN DELANEY

Delaney wasted no time when he got his notice Friday and was working the UWA show in Bolton, Ontario on Friday night. Delaney is likely destined for independent dates with promotions such as CHIKARA, where I think he could really thrive as he is a good promo but was never given the chance to get over on the stick. The size will work against him but he has a name now though a national run again is unlikely.

NUNZIO

James Maritado is one of the better hands to have on your roster having worked for UWFi in the early 90's and then carving out a niche for himself in ECW with some terrific matches alongside Tajiri and Super Crazy, which complimented his style. He's a young veteran and someone Ring of Honor would be wise to bring in as a similar role that Joey Matthews has served as both a talent and pseudo agent with the company.

THE HIGHLANDERS

These guys were very over on the Southern Ontario independent scene prior to signing with the WWE. The two would be a logical signing by the Nu Wrestling Evolution promotion if they chose to tour Scotland anytime soon. You would think TNA at least owes them a courtesy call for the position they put Robbie in at the WrestleMania weekend.

STEVIE RICHARDS

There are probably not a ton of options for Richards at this stage of the game at the age of 36. Perhaps he will bounce around the independent level but cannot see any promotion like TNA or ROH going out to scoop him.

CHERRY

Kara Elizabeth Drew has been working in the industry in some capacity for the past 9-years so this isn't a case of a model being signed and she got her 2-years in and is probably going to drop it. She was never a stellar worker and that is going to make the independent dates tougher to come by.

i don't agree with you with stevie richards i think we can possibly see him in tna eventually.i say they'll rehire big daddy v in the near future and i think it was a mistake getting rid of nunzio for many reasons.i can see the highlanders going to tna and possibly cherry.shannon moore its ashame because wwe never really gave him a cruiserweight chance.colin delaney im suprise he lasted this long with wwe because he was too plain.

WWE should take OVW national. If they can revitalize ECW think what they could do with OVW. They have the new talent and then they could have a home for the more experienced veterains not being used on other shows. I don't believe that the number one company in the business needs to lay people off or terminate them. Wreslters give this business everything and more and with one phone call or e-mail they get treated like toilet paper. Its a cruel business.
