- Former European super middleweight champion Edip Sekowitsch was stabbed to death in a knife fight early Tuesday in front of a cafe he owned in Vienna. The 50-year-old Austrian boxer retired in 2000 with a record of 29-9-1 (22 KOs), only to re-emerge in June with a first-round knockout win.

- BoxingScene.com is reporting that former IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron will more than likely square off with Lovemore Ndou, a former IBF junior welterweight champ, on the Nov. 15 undercard to Jermain Taylor vs. Jeff Lacy. The fight is said to be an IBF eliminator for the number-two spot in the rankings. Cintron is coming off a sixth-round knockout loss at the hands of Antonio Margarito, which took place in April. Ndou was last seen in the ring in May, losing a split decision to Paulie Malignaggi. The fight will be Ndou's first at 147 pounds. There is also talk that Cintron will no longer use the services of trainer Emanuel Steward, and will now hook up with well-respected Ronnie Shields.

- An Eventco Sports, Inc. promoted fight card for Sept. 20 at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. will be headlined by a seven-rounder pitting Daniel "The Haitian Sensation" Eduoard (18-2-2, 10 KOs) against Angel "El Toro" Hernandez (28-7, 16 KOs).

- Shane "Mountain Warrior" Cameron (21-1, 19 KOs) returns on Sept. 27 at the Town Hall in Christchurch, New Zealand. His opponent is Terry Smith (30-5, 18 KOs). The heavyweight bout will be contested over 12 rounds.

The card emanates from Hamburg, Germany.

- 2008 U.S. Olympic team alternate Danny O'Connor has inked a deal with Seminole Warriors Boxing.

- ESPN is reporting that heavyweight prospect Chazz Witherspoon, who suffered his first professional loss against Chris Arreola on June 21, will take on Adam "The Swamp Donkey" Richards on the Nov. 15 Jermain Taylor vs. Jeff Lacy undercard. Promoter Lou Dibella hasn't finalized a venue, but he stated that he's in talks with officials for the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

- The Sept. 12 Telemundo card will be headlined by Puerto Rican Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. (12-0-1, 10 KOs) taking on Mexican Adolfo "El Terror" Landeros (19-10-1, 19 KOs). The 12-round battle will be for the WBO Latino featherweight crown. The action originates from the Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, Fla.

- According to Inside Sports in the Phillipines, WBO bantamweight titleholder Gerry Penalosa has been given an offer by Golden Boy Promotions to fight Nestor Rocha on the undercard of the Ricky Hatton vs. Paulie Malignaggi fight, scheduled for Nov. 22 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. The offer is for $125,000, plus $5,000 for training expenses. Penalosa's asking price is $150,000. However, he told manager Billy Keane that he needs time to mull over the aforementioned offer.

- Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told The Manilla Bulletin on Wednesday that he is "optimistic" about the possibility of a Manny Pacquiao vs. Oscar De La Hoya showdown coming to fruition. The MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. is likely to be the venue, as De La Hoya has hinted to it as his venue of choice for his last fight.
