During a ceremony held in Los Angeles, Floyd Mayweather Jr. bested UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and fellow boxers Kelly Pavlik, Joe Calzaghe and Holly Holm to earn the "best fighter" ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards).
Since 1993, fans have voted for their favorite fighters. Last year marked the first time a mixed martial artist was nominated for the prize, with Quinton Jackson and Randy Couture as finalists.
The ESPY awards are scheduled to air this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
