On Friday night at the 'Smackdown' house show in San Diego, California Edge (Adam Copeland) suffered what is believed to be a torn achilles tendon in the opening minutes of his match with Jeff Hardy.

Edge apparently planted his foot wrong and immediately went down and they were forced to end the match with Edge apologizing to the audience before they took him to the back.

The crew has a show in Honolulu, Hawaii tonight and then head to Japan for a week long tour, which Edge will not be participating in.

We will try and get an update in regards to whether he will need surgery, but the odds are not in his favor of avoiding surgery, which would force some significant down time for Edge.

Edge was already dealing with some nagging injuries and that was one of the reasons for putting the Tag Titles on Chris Jericho and himself so Edge could work less in tag matches.
